๐Ÿ’ป Online reviews are important factors in our purchasing behavior. However, despite their relevance, they are not always reliable. Will this principle change when reward systems are introduced?

๐Ÿ“š A recent study by researchers from the University of California, Hunter College, College of New York and the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics points to a possible solution:
๐Ÿ’ฐ Reward systems for online reviews. The question was therefore whether reward systems increase the quality of an online review.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ The researchers simulated a rating system in a virtual environment. Without a reward, only around 30 percent of players gave ratings. With the incentive of a monetary reward, participation jumped to 70 percent.
๐Ÿง  The ratings motivated by rewards were also more honest and realistic compared to the unpaid ratings, which were often too positive.

๐Ÿ’ฏ The study results suggest that rewards can increase the precision and reliability of online reviews.
๐Ÿข This could benefit both consumers and companies by leading to more authentic and meaningful customer feedback.
