These and other questions about the use of Twitter by American adults have now been answered by the Pew Research Center. For the representative study “The Behaviors and Attitudes of U.S. Adults on Twitter”, 2,548 participants were interviewed. 💬

🐥 Around ¼ of adult Americans use Twitter.
🐥 30% of respondents said that Twitter had made them feel more politically engaged. However, 54 % also said that they consider inaccurate and misleading information to be a big problem with the network.
🐥 Especially exciting: Twitter’s most active 25% account for 97% of all tweets. This was shown by an analysis of American tweets in the period from 12 June to 12 September this year.
🐥 42 % of the respondents stated that their reason for using Twitter was entertainment and 20 % information gathering. For the majority of users, Twitter is mainly used to observe the opinions of others.
🐥 Also interesting: 11% of those under 30 said that Twitter had lowered their stress levels.
