Google has launched the next core update! 🚀The roll-out promotes content created for users instead of search engines. Many SEOs and website owners had been expecting the update as the last one was in August and was finalised in early September. Google is now providing information about the roll-out of the November 2024 Core Update via X, LinkedIn and the Google Search Status Dashboard.
𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗢 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆☝️ The roll-out of the current Google Core Update will take around two weeks. Google prefers content that is written for people and their interests, while content that has been optimised for search engines is less visible. The update is intended to reward smaller publishers and negatively evaluate generated, mass-produced content. Google is increasingly focussing on human opinions and creators. Further information and status updates on the update are available in the Google Search Status Dashboard and Google Search Central.
📈Many site operators and SEOs are hoping for ranking gains with the November 2024 Core Update, especially those who had losses in August 2024. However, a recovery could only occur if the losses were not caused by low-quality content. Some are also hoping for a long-term recovery from the criticised Helpful Content Update. The first fluctuations are already evident and increasing volatility can be seen in the SISTRIX ranking radar. 💡It is interesting to note that many AI chatbots were unable to provide any information about the update at the beginning, while Google Gemini was already reporting on it.

The 2024 search market will be increasingly characterised by generative AI 🤖, which does not diminish the importance of Google’s Core Updates for website operators. It will be interesting to see how content develops in Google Gemini and in AI Overviews, which are now available in over 100 countries. With Reasoning Mode, Perplexity offers a new function to answer multi-layered questions and relies on features such as Spaces and Internal Knowledge Search. OpenAI has bought Chat.com and is promoting its new ChatGPT Search as a competitor to Google, despite some limitations.
